CCTV shows three men near Sydney ‘stronghold’ where kidnapped Chris Baghsarian held, police allege | New South Wales

New South Wales police have released CCTV footage of three further men they want to question over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian last month.

Daniel Stevens, 24, and Gerard Andrews, 29 have previously been charged with murder and detaining in company with intent to ransom, occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police allege Baghsarian, 85, was kidnapped from his North Ryde home on 13 February in a case of mistaken identity. His body was dumped near a golf club at Pitt Town days later, police allege, but was not found until 24 February.

Police on Wednesday released the CCTV footage as part of a public appeal for more information.

It shows three men walking towards what police allege was the kidnappers’ “stronghold” at Dural, in north-western Sydney, on the night Baghsarian went missing.

CCTV from the following day shows a blue Hyundai sedan with a missing hubcap on its left side arriving at and then leaving the Dural address just after 12pm.

The NSW police commissioner, Mal Lanyon, said on Tuesday that “we believe these males may be involved”.

“It’s important that we identify who they are and either rule them in or eliminate them from our inquiries,” Lanyon told ABC radio.

“We’ve indicated we’re going to be incredibly thorough with this investigation. The CCTV also indicates a blue-coloured Hyundai sedan, which is missing a hubcap on the left-hand side. That vehicle was seen to go out to a house that we believe Mr Baghsarian was held captive [at] during his ordeal.”

Baghsarian’s family issued a statement in mid-February describing the 85-year-old as “a devoted father, brother, uncle and grandfather”.

“He is deeply loved, gentle, and the kindest person we know – someone who would never hurt a fly,” they said at the time.
